MICHAEL CAMACHO : JUST FOR YOU

New York's Michael Camacho wrote five of the dozen songs on this wonderful CD. His voice sounds very familiar because it's
similar to Jimmy Scott's. There are two Johnny Mercer songs: "I'm Old Fashioned" (Kern) has a remarkable friendly finger
snapping beat. Its movement is delightful. "Skylark" (Carmichael),on the other hand, is conveyed in an almost
spoken manner handling this classic as a fervent ballad.

Michael's take is vocal artistry and music to my ears. "Blue Room"(Rogers/Hart) moves along quickly. His smooth voice
pushes it to a spectacular and bopish conclusion. "I Should Care" (Cahn/Stordhal/Weston) is sung as a gentle mellow
ballad.  "This Is Always" (Warren/Gordon) is performed seriously and compassionately, almost as if it were a prayer.
Dignity abounds throughout this first rate CD.
